  • We need to define privacy since we use it a lot
    • Make clear what we mean.

  • No, there is no need to define privacy just because we use the term

    • No standard is dependent on the ”right” interperetation of privacy
  • Suggested definitions:
    • right of individuals to control the collection, storage and processing of their PII and to control to whom their PII may be disclosed
    • ability of individuals to control the collection, storage and processing of their PII and to control to whom their PII may be disclosed
    • right of individuals to control or influence what information related to them may be collected and stored, for what purposes it may be processed and TO whom that information may be disclosed by the collector
    • right of individuals to control the collection, storage, processing and disclosure of their personally identifiable information
